A little Blog Candy...

*This contest is now closed! Result will we posted tomorrow!

My first Blog Candy giveaway is in honor of my mother, Julie Higginbotham. She was a wonderful mother. And, as I became an adult and parent myself, my best friend. My mom loved supported me unconditionally, but was also there to give me a kick in the behind when I needed it. :) She was diagnosed with diabetes when she was 35, and fought it with everything she had until she passed away in September 2007, at 48. It was a bittersweet year for me, as I married Travis July 6, 2007 and her birthday is July 7th.

During the year leading up to my wedding, my mom suffered complete kidney failure, and was on dialysis. She spent most of the year in and out of the hospital, but was DETERMINED to walk down the aisle at my wedding. She did, and she looked stunning. But that was my mom. Nothing could stop her once she put her mind to something. When I started scrapbooking and paper crafting about 5 years ago, she was right there with me. She would go out and buy stuff all the time. It wasn't until after she passed away that I found out how much...lol

Which brings me to the Candy. This is a collection of a little bit of the stuff my mom left. She was a VERY generous person, and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. Most of this stuff she bought in triplicate, so I still have a lot for myself. She would love that I am giving it to a fellow papercrafter that would put it to good use. I tried to group it so that it coordinated a little, and I added a few things! To enter the drawing, all you have to do is comment on this post, or follow my blog. The contest will close on July 7th, at 8:00 p.m. Central. I'm so very sorry, but I can't ship overseas.

The Candy!

My beautiful Mom. She would be the 50 this year! :)

Good Luck! :)

* I have been thinking a lot about the fun and special times I had with my mom. If you would like, leave a comment about a special memory you have of your mother, or of your children (if you have them!) Thanks!

Saying Goodbye...

Well, sort of. ;) Hello! I spent most of today day sort of saying goodbye to the retiring In Colors. Even though they will no longer be available to order, You will continue to see me use them. I've only been a SU! demonstrator for a few months, so I really haven't had long to use these fabulous colors. I think Pacific Point has to be my favorite!

I also used the One Sheet Wonder method for this set of cards. I got the inspiration from Mae, a super creative lady on Splitcoast. You can visit her blog here I altered the color palette a bit, and used Kiwi Kiss and Real Red. That is my other favorite SU! color. It is a very deep and beautiful red, I find I use it often!

Stamps: Enjoy Every Moment, Vouge Verses, Lots of Thoughts
Paper: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Real Red, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango
Ink: Pacific Point, Real Red, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango

I actually did these two projects on Sunday. It was really fun, I love the So Tweet chipboard!

I used the Good Morning Sunshine dsp for this card. I'm really going to miss this cool retro paper! I got the inspiration for this card from Angie on Chic n Scratch. Her blog is so awesome!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

My first Mojo Monday

Hi! I have completed my first card in the Mojo Monday challenge! I really enjoyed myself, and it made coming up with a card in a short time REALLY easy! I think this is going to be a part of my card making routine!

This is the sketch that I had to work with...

And this is what I came up with! With this card, I forced myself to use supplies that I rarely use, and a stamp set I have never used. I tend to prefer bold shapes and colors, but I ordered this stamp set to do something different. I really like how it turned out.

Stamps: A Rose is a Rose, "Friendship" stamp from Michaels
Paper: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Pixie Pink,Bella Rose dsp
Ink: Melon Mambo, Pixie Pink, Kiwi Kiss

Feeling a little nostalgic...

Hello! I was on Splitcoast today, (as usual these days!), and I was looking at some of the fabulous Scrapbook layouts of some of the members. It made me a little nostalgic, and I dug out some of the pages I have done in the past. Just looking at them has made me miss scrapbooking! It has kind of taken a back seat to my card making these days, but I think I am going to do some pages in the near future. Hope you like what you see. Enjoy!

Alyssa LOVES Olivia. She is a lot like her. This was something else my mom introduced her to during one of their many field trips to Barnes and Noble. The cake is one of my creations. That little pig was hard to render in buttercream! :) As you will probably notice as I post more pics, I suck at getting my journaling done. I'll get to it, one day...

This was THE MOST time-consuming, pain-in-the-butt layouts that I have EVER done. I didn't have the die-cut that would have made this a lot easier, so I measured, and cut each of the pics by hand. I was thrilled with the end result, so it was worth it! (Notice the mini notecard? :)

Amaiya in a Strawberry Bikini. She was about 7 months old, and my mom took this pic. She was the one who bought the bikini. It was one of her favorite pics of her!

I love, love, love these pages. I got the inspiration for the design from Alyssa's outfit. I don't think you can see it very well, but the flower design is on her shirt. I just love the color combination. I had so much fun with these pages!

Oh my goodness, it's late! Well, I will post more after I get a little sleep. Thanks for stopping by!

Lots of LadyBugs!

A few weeks ago, my wonderful husband bought me my dream car! That car is a VW Beetle, or as my kids call it, 'The LadyBug'. Since then, I have developed a bit of an obsession with them. I have been making them almost non-stop...lol. I put together a few small projects in honor of 'The LadyBug', I hope you enjoy!

I love it!

I would once again like to thank the creative ladies over on Splitcoast for the inspiration, as well as Angie at Chic n Scratch. I watched her video on making the bugs about 100 times! :)

More coming soon...

Hello! I just wanted to take a sec to let you know that I am working on new projects, patiently waiting on my Stampin' Up! shipment, and dealing with the start of summer vacation! I will be posting some new stuff soon, I promise!

I would really like to thank the ladies that attended my first Mom and Me stamp club. We had a BLAST! (I think the kids had a pretty good time too.) We will be having our next meeting Friday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. We are going to be working on a stationary gift set. Becuase this is a pretty involved project, I am going to break it up into two parts. As usual, drop me a line to let me know if you are attending. the cost is $12.00 for each pair, and you can pay the night of class. Hope to see you!

Also, I am going to have a party to celebrate the new 2009-2010 Stampin' Up! catalog! I am still trying to work out the date. With the 4th, I know people are busy! I will keep everyone posted. Have a great day!
